Purple Shards are a new British Hip Hop/Indie/Alternative band based in Newcastle, UK.
They first met at university in 2007 while studying music together.
The band started to emerge in the summer of 2008 when their first material was written.
Although based in Newcastle, the band originates from different parts of the UK & each of these different backgrounds has brought a unique element of style to the band.
Purple Shards have been inspired by many different genres & artists such as: Kanye West, Radiohead, Natty, Kings of Leon, Jimi Hendrix, Beck, Bat For Lashes, Easy Star All Stars, Fat Freddy’s Drop & The Whitest Boy Alive.

Purple Shards enter GBOB
Purple Shards, already winners of the Carnegie Rewards Talent competition, in their first year, have entered the $100,000 GBOB.com Global Battle of the Bands.
They make their entry in Birmingham on the 21st. November 2009. Don't bet against them.
