The Reverence

The Reverence is a Brighton-based rock band that formed in September 2008. They have recorded an EP and an album, made a music video, played several live shows to an already dedicated fan base across the South East (including support for James McCartney) and recently had some radio play which has invoked positive responses from DJs and listeners. They released debut single My Town on 15th February 2010, for which they collaborated with short-film director, Liam Creighton, to make a music video to accompany it. The video is available to view on www.thereverence.co.uk and the song is in all good mp3 download stores. Debut mini-album Monument was released on 29th March 2010 and can be purchased from http://thereverence.bigcartel.com/

The influences in the band range from post-punk (Joy Division, Queens Of The Stone Age) to anthemic indie (Interpol, Editors) to epic Brit-rock (Radiohead, Elbow) to alternative/modern Americana (REM, The National). When listening to their music you can also hear touches of 80s electronica, 21st century indie-dance and out-and-out punk-rock. But The Reverence don’t set out to reproduce anyone else’s music; their music is entirely their own and transcends genres. They prefer the idea of setting trends, not copying them.

The members of The Reverence write about the dark things in life that affect everyone – fears, frustration, worry, anger, loneliness and uncertainty. But they write to make things better, not to depress. Their songs are filled with hope and are brightened by a light at the end of the tunnel. Their energetic live shows aim to bring people together, excite them, help them forget their worries and enjoy themselves. They are excited about the music they write and play and at the potential they have to be a truly great band.

DEBUT SINGLE AND VIDEO OUT 15/02/10

2010
Good day to you all, Well, on the gig front it's been quiet of late but it's been a hectic past 6 months for us behind the scenes. Back in August we finished our mini album and this weekend just gone we filmed a music video for My Town, which will be our debut single. It was an incredible shoot with a brilliant crew on board. The director and producer team of Liam Creighton and Courtney Hopf have been amazing throughout the whole process and post-production is taking place as I am writing this. Please check out their previous work at www.jaywalkermovies.com To all our friends and families who were extras in yesterday's shoot, thank you so much for your time and patience. Your support means so much to us and some day we will be able to make it up to you (VIP tickets to our Wembley Stadium gigs... yet to be organised). As for us, we may have a final gig before the year is out (and maybe a couple of cheeky acoustic gigs) but need to concentrate on the technicalites of getting a single, video and album released online (yikes!). In early 2010 (February, maybe) we hope to release My Town and the video and then the album will shortly follow. Hopefully it will be a big year for us. 07/08/09 - Album = done!
Hello good people of the world! Today we completed the final 4 tracks of our mini album! We recorded half in June and and the other half over the past few days, all in Red Room Studios in Brighton. It has been a long and difficult process but we are really happy with the results. We can't wait for people to have a listen. Once we've sorted out all the artwork, etc, we are going to get some physical copies made and get the tracks on iTunes and what not. Thank you and bye! The Reverence 26/10/09 - Update We are releasing My Town as a single in early 2010 and then the album, Monument, afterwards. Things are taking a little longer than expected! In November we are working with Liam Creighton, a short-film director, to make a music video for My Town, which is very exciting! Watch this space for further updates :)
